Hi, I’m Donovan. My mission is to get those over 40 moving well, and living a pain free and able to live life the way want to live it.
My drive and passion for this area of health and fitness stems from my own personal experiences with many injuries myself in my 20’s from playing many sports with injuries, leading to having a heavy reliance on pain medications, which left me with many joint problems which I struggled to overcome at the time. This prompted me to change my career from being an engineer to a Health Coach/Personal Trainer.
I made it my mission to help people with similar problems to myself, as I truly know how it feels for you to be in pain everyday and at the same time really wanting an active lifestyle. Finding simple things a chore and not being able to do the things you truly want to do was very frustrating. As a personal trainer I never shied away from the difficult, complex or older client with joint injuries, back pain or posture problems, rather than looking for those who just want to get fit and look good for the holiday. I saw this as a great way for me to learn to help you better results and understand from the people I had an affinity with as this would then hone my skills enabling me to help you with the right approach in the coming future.
This led me to working frequently with physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors and similar health professionals, where I would refer my clients to as well as myself for treatments. I took the opportunity to sit in on my client’s sessions and work closely with these professionals where we would share knowledge and find the best solutions to help you get the best results.
Further studies followed in the 1999 for more specific courses to help you. These focussed on injury, rehab, posture and holistic lifestyles to further my knowledge, such as the CHEK courses which were eye opening and very innovative at the time. Paul Chek was one of the very first holistic Practitioners and is still highly respected in the field today.
Focussing on foundational movements I will treat you as an individual as no two clients are alike, even if you have similar problems on the surface. Getting weak points strong and mobile and looking at your lifestyle, nutrition and how you move, I will help you to come up with a plan and form good habits to get you to your goals whilst also providing relevant education to your specific needs.
Now in my 60’s I have worked with 100’s of clients from all walks of life and also abroad where I worked with 4 medical centres in Australia for 2 years, gaining more experience and qualifications (Exercise physiology)
I now have a personal training studio in Sheffield where I work with clients from 40-70 or anyone that needs my services in my studio, I also offer my services worldwide with my online app.
